City Grounds Maintenance Worker
Maintains grounds and buildings for the city by performing the following duties.
Essential duties and responsibilities include :
Responsible for working with PW Maintenance Manager, Assistant PW Maintenance Manager, and department Crew Leaders to respond to city services during inclement weather events. This position is considered an essential position that requires work to be performed during extreme weather and in natural disaster events.

Education and / or Experience : High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two (2) years related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability : Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Some positions require a commercial driver's license.
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds or greater. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, noxious fumes, and outside weather conditions including extreme heat and / or cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
