Senior Procurement Specialist
Location : Shawnee, Kansas (Hybrid 23 days on site per week)
Salary : $110,000 $130,000 DOE
Reporting to : Global Head of Procurement

Role Summary
This is a senior-level procurement role responsible for managing sourcing strategies and supplier relationships across multiple US manufacturing sites. The successful candidate will take ownership of the procurement of direct materialssuch as APIs, excipients, packaging, and consumablesand may expand into indirect and CapEx categories over time. With a strong focus on value generation, supplier performance, and continuity of supply, this role is critical to supporting production goals and the broader supply chain strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement activities across assigned US sites, aligning local sourcing with global procurement strategies.
- Manage supplier relationships for raw materials, packaging, indirect services, and logistics providers.
- Negotiate contracts and commercial terms, driving cost savings, cash flow optimisation, and service improvement.
- Implement and maintain supplier KPIs, lead regular supplier reviews, and establish long-term strategic partnerships.
- Support and lead global sourcing projects and tenders, particularly for high-value or complex categories.
- Set inventory parameters (MOQ, lead times, safety stock) in collaboration with Supply Chain leadership to automate purchasing and reduce working capital.
- Identify and mitigate supply risks by qualifying alternate sources and leading contingency planning.
- Collaborate with Site GMs and Finance to contribute to budget planning and commercial strategies.
- Monitor and action material-related deviations, CAPAs, and material change controls.
- Contribute to the development of customer pricing models through accurate cost input and market insight.
- Ensure procurement compliance with FDA, GMP, and corporate quality standards.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.5+ years of procurement experience, including direct materials; exposure to indirect / CapEx categories a plus.Experience within animal health, pharmaceutical, CMO / CDMO, or life sciences manufacturing.Strong understanding of GMP and regulatory compliance in procurement processes.Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management skills, both locally and globally.Proven ability to manage suppliers across multiple sites and execute sourcing strategies.Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of eSourcing or Source-to-Pay tools desirable.Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a commercial mindset.Willingness to travel regularly to Fort Dodge and other US manufacturing sites as needed.Hybrid Working Model
