About The Position

Must-Have : Epic experience; comfort with MedSurg assignments; ability to read and interpret cardiac strips; previous experience with IMC / stepdown and neuro patients.

Description :

This position requires a Registered Nurse to work in a mixed unit caring for patients with various medical conditions.

Patients will include those with DKA requiring insulin drips, pre / post-surgical care, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders, soft tissue injuries, minor fractures, and DVTs.

The nursing staff will administer oral, IV, IM, and SQ medications, as well as manage titratable vasoactive drips, TPN / tube feeding, and blood product transfusions.

Staff will be responsible for peripheral IV, midline, PICC, central line access, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and urinary and fecal collection devices.

Preventative and restorative skin and wound care will also be provided.

Nurses will be expected to read and interpret telemetry monitoring.

Patient ratios will vary, with assignments including up to 10-12 patients.

A charge nurse will oversee the unit without a patient load.

Travelers may be scheduled for up to four weekends in a six-week schedule.

Approval for time off can be granted for up to a week and a half, with certain blackout dates during peak events.

Nurses will need to have a comfort level with drip titration for medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Levophed.

Support from CNAs and RTs is available.

Candidates must live 100 miles away from the facility to be eligible for this position.
