Overview
SES Constructors LLC (SCL) is looking for a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) who will be responsible for managing daily preventive and corrective safety activities on Federal construction projects. The candidate must be able to conduct Site Safety Meetings, perform inspections, review submittals, and ensure that adherence to policies and procedures is upheld. Prepare all safety inspections and documentation required. This position travels to various project sites.
Responsibilities
- Implement the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for Civil Works (earthwork / excavation, site prep, traffic control, clear and grub, concrete work, paving, pipe installation, demolition) projects following U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineering Manual EM 385-1-1.
- Conduct site safety orientation for project personnel, including subcontractors.
- Review safety requirements and expectations with project personnel for each definable feature of work.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections of equipment and services onsite per APP, AHA, and contract requirements.
- Ensure proper tagging, signage, barriers, and all other safety information and controls are installed and maintained to project requirements.
- Maintain the Safety Data Sheets and associated logs for the project.
- Participate in incident response, communication, investigation, and documentation, and contribute to root cause analysis / lessons learned.
Qualifications
5+ years of safety officer / SSHO experience on Civil Works construction projects.24 hours of documented safety training within the last 3 years.Ability and willingness to travel 80-95% of the time.OSHA 30-hr Construction Safety Training.Familiarity with USACE EM-385-1-1 requirements and experience working on USACE and / or NAVFAC Civil construction projects.Knowledge of construction (i.e., read plans and specifications, and know field methods / equipment).Excellent verbal and written communication skills.US Citizenship is required to gain security access.Computer skills, including basic proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Outlook.Preferred Qualifications
Additional safety training / experience with rigging / load handling equipment safety, confined space, fall protection, marine safety, and working on or near water.CPR / First Aid trained.A safety, engineering, or construction management degree is preferred but not required.Additional Qualifying Factors
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening (post-accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results.If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.Compensation & Benefits
Compensation : $80,000 - $100,000 yearly
