Description :

General comments regarding the unit :

Number of Beds : 25

Patient Ratios : 5 / 6+ : 1

Unit staffing includes 4-5 nurses and 1-3 Patient Care Technicians.

Department Secretary present from 7 AM to 7 PM, currently 3 days a week, hiring for additional coverage.

Type of equipment includes general nursing equipment for the care of medical surgical patients, specifically related to post-operative hip, knee, spine, and other orthopedic procedures.

Documentation system used is Meditech.

Scheduling requirements include 3 shifts per week, with every other weekend.

No guarantee of block scheduling.

Floating policy allows contract staff to float to similar units.

Patient experience requirements include bedside shift report, safety rounding (1 hour during the day, 2 hours at night), use of AIDET for all interactions, treating all patients with courtesy and respect, and keeping patients informed of their care while making personal connections.

Certifications required include BLS.

Dress code requires navy scrubs and any closed-toe shoes.

The unit follows general hospital policies and guidelines.

Noteworthy aspects for prospective candidates include a purpose-built unit that is just over 1 year old, ample equipment to meet patient and staff needs, and a number of nursing staff with tenures, some exceeding 20 years.
