Base pay range

$120,000.00 / yr - $140,000.00 / yr

A nationally recognized construction firm is seeking a seasoned Preconstruction Lead to join its respected team, known for delivering complex, large-scale federal projects. This fully onsite role in Framingham, MA is ideal for a detail-driven estimator who thrives in fast-paced environments where precision, leadership, and collaboration are essential. The Preconstruction Lead will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of preconstruction planning, leading proposal efforts, managing estimator assignments, attending site walks, reviewing RFP compliance, and coordinating with design and corporate teams. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and thrives on managing the moving parts of multifaceted bids while mentoring team members and liaising with clients and subcontractors. This firm is looking for a reliable leader with 10+ years of construction estimating experience who brings both technical excellence and strong interpersonal skills to a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Preconstruction Lead Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end preconstruction process for complex government construction projects
  • Review project proposals for completeness and accuracy
  • Assign work scopes to internal estimators and manage project schedules
  • Collaborate with design teams on design-build initiatives
  • Coordinate with corporate departments for insurance, bonding, and tax compliance
  • Organize and attend site visits, ensuring thorough documentation and reporting
  • Manage subcontractor / vendor bid reviews and support bid analysis
  • Prepare final pricing proposals and cost summaries for executive review
  • Track small business participation and ensure federal compliance
  • Support project handoff to operations team including cost codes, budgets, and schedule input

Preconstruction Lead Requirements

  • At least 10 years of construction experience with a focus on estimating
  • Minimum of 3 consecutive years at one company
  • Proven success leading proposals and estimating efforts from start to finish
  • Prior team management experience in a preconstruction setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Able to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Comfortable coordinating with internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Familiarity with government contracts and compliance standards preferred
