2026 Co-Op - Manufacturing Industrial Engineer at General Motors.

We are seeking Industrial Engineer Co-ops to perform hands-on work with potential to contribute directly to the company's bottom line. You would be responsible for analyzing the efficiency of manufacturing operations and changes related to personnel, material, machines and facilities. The role requires leadership ability, critical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to make independent determinations with mentorship from supervisors.

Work Arrangement

Onsite : This role is categorized as onsite. The successful candidate is expected to report to an assigned facility on a full-time basis. Candidate location preferences are considered but cannot be guaranteed.

What You'll Do

  • Confirms or recommends changes to layouts, labor control and / or material control
  • Frequent contact with others outside the work group
  • Assists in developing accurate methods and optimum operation layout
  • Makes operation descriptions and performs calculations to complete studies and change routines or other systems of labor and material control

  • Physical Requirements

  • Walk and stand for prolonged periods
  • Read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections
  • Detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals; wear PPE as required
  • Work in a manufacturing environment that may be hot or cold and not climate controlled
  • Frequently bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach
  • Lift or carry materials up to 15 lbs, and up to 40 lbs periodically
  • Occasionally sit, climb (ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles or equipment
  • Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Must be graduating between August 2026 and May 2029
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Willing to work in a plant environment
  • Enrolled in a co-op program at your university
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate across levels

  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects
  • Compensation

  • Salary for this role is $5,300 per month, dependent upon degree
  • One-time lump-sum taxable stipend payment for eligible students selected for the 2026 Student Program
