JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide safe, effective and compassionate patient care; contribute to clinical service with expertise in clinical care; develop local / regional recognition as an authority in the field and build a local or regional subspecialist referral base.
- Develop clinical skills or programs that are locally or regionally distinctive; document patient care on appropriate records; implement innovative approaches to patient care; provide disease-specific expert consultation; examine patients and coordinate services for their care.
- Perform procedures, collect and analyze data, and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care; maintain and modify patient-specific care plans; plan and coordinate care for discharged patients.
- Monitor the appropriateness of therapeutic management and care to ensure timely delivery; promote patient care outcomes on an ongoing basis.
- Teach and supervise medical students, residents and fellows; participate in educational activities; maintain currency in the field through continuing education, literature and seminars.
- Engage in service and / or administration by contributing to program development, division direction, program evaluation, or committee participation; provide faculty coverage as needed; participate in all division activities and uphold departmental policies and standards.
- Participate in scholarly activities including clinical investigations, publications, clinical trials, and grant-seeking; design and conduct clinical research and disseminate findings; assist in obtaining external funding for research and teaching programs.
