PRIMARY PURPOSE : Provides leadership to professional and support staff for treatment and education of patients for the expedition of recovery, early discharge and return to independence.

Responsibilities :
1.Evaluates patients thoroughly and defines deficits according to rehab principles. Plans, implements, and adapts treatments using various therapy techniques and devices as appropriate to restore, reinforce, and enhance patients¿ performance. Provides education to patients and family members to facilitate participation and improvement.
2.Documents patient progress and maintains required documentation to ensure that accurate information is available and in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
3.Participates in various committees, interdisciplinary meetings and patient conferences as assigned. Acts as a lead and serves as a resource for patient care to physicians, nurses, residents, students and staff. Acts as liaison to interdisciplinary staff.
4.Functions as a mentor and a resource in designated specialty areas within Therapy. Initiates necessary adjustments to schedule to accommodate unforeseen circumstances while maintaining patient care flow and productivity.
5.Takes responsibility for own professional growth and development by attending seminars and workshops, reading professional journals, and maintaining current licensure as a therapist and integrates this knowledge into the clinical setting. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the therapy area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state / federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
6.Identifies ways to improve work processes and initiate necessary adjustments to improve work processes, efficiency, patient flow while productivity expectations and supporting customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of PHHS. Develops and completes special projects as well as research and evaluation of new products and equipment. Initiates and participates with projects and program development to ensure evidence-based best-practice guidelines are followed whenever possible.
