Maintenance Mechanic A

Location : St. Joseph, MO (Distribution Center - DC)

Pay : $32.89 / hr, with wage progression per the collective bargaining agreement. Paid weekly on Fridays.

Shift Differential :

  • 2nd shift : +$1.00 / hr
  • 3rd shift : +$2.00 / hr
  • Weekend shift : +$0.29 / hr

Shifts : 3rd Shift (11 : 00pm-7 : 18am) and B Shift (11 : 00am-11 : 18pm). Overtime may be required.

Benefits Start : Day 31

    • Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair production and plant utility equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Install, move, and modify equipment, including electrical, gas, water, and air hookups
  • Interpret schematics and blueprints to guide maintenance work
  • Operate shop tools and equipment (lathe, mill, drill press, grinder, welder, etc.)
  • Fabricate or repair jigs, fixtures, guards, racks, trays, and other parts / tools as needed
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize uptime
  • Log work orders, track parts usage, and maintain records using Maximo CMMS
  • Support safety programs and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives
  • Occasionally guide or assist lower-level mechanics or trainees

    • Qualifications

    Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance or mechanical trades experience
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical circuits, and fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Must supply and maintain appropriate personal hand tools
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and varied shifts as needed
  • Must be able to wear required PPE (uniform, safety shoes, glasses, earplugs)
  • U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident (no sponsorship available)

    • Preferred

  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (Maximo preferred)
  • Experience in team-based improvement groups (HPTs, safety committees, etc.)
  • Proficiency with electrical diagnostic and testing equipment

    • About the Plant

    Our St. Joseph, Missouri Distribution Center (DC) plays a key role in the packaging, storage, and shipment of Clarios batteries. The facility employs more than 300 people and operates six days per week. The site fosters a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and recognition while also engaging in community initiatives and events.
