Overview

This position contributes to the daily operation of the Acquisition Services Unit in the Archives of Michigan Section. Specifically, the Digital Acquisition Services Archivist will communicate with state agencies, local governments, and private donors to identify, appraise, acquire, and accession digital archival / historic records and facilitate public records access. This position is responsible for writing and running scripts to package digital records for ingest into the Preservica preservation system. The Digital Acquisition Services Archivist also works with the collections services digital archivist to maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues in Preservica. This position works on a team to implement and migrate to the ArchiveSpace collections management system. The Digital Acquisition Archivist also participates in fieldwork projects, provides reference services for the public, and serves on archives cross-unit teams. This position requires demonstrated technical skills, digital preservation knowledge, and understanding of archival principles and the records lifecycle.

Education

Education

Possession of a master’s degree in history, art history, museum studies, anthropology, American studies, architecture, architectural history, urban planning, library / information science, historic preservation, or archival management.
