About The Position

Barton is seeking a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Physician Assistant for a 30-day locum tenens assignment in Texas. This opportunity starts as early as Dec 8, 2025, and covers day and evening shifts with a mix of weekdays and weekends in a PICU setting. The role involves managing post-operative pediatric patients and requires experience in pediatric cardiology and critical care procedures.

  • Provider Type Needed : Physician Assistant -Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
  • Schedule : Monday–Friday 7am–8pm, weekends 8am–9pm; 8–14 shifts per 4-week block; must be available for days, nights, and weekends

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide medical care for pediatric patients in the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU)
  • Manage post-operative cardiothoracic cases
  • Perform procedures including arterial, central venous, and chest tube placement, endotracheal intubation, lumbar puncture, and needle thoracentesis
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Document care and procedures using Epic EMR

  • One year of pediatric cardiology experience required; post-operative cardiothoracic experience preferred
  • Experience with advanced critical care procedures desired
  • Must hold a valid Texas license
