Job Summary
The STS GES Senior Manager is responsible for executing tasks relating to, but not limited to, the following : Taxation of equity compensation, deferred compensation / 409A, IRC section 162(m), 280G / Golden Parachute analyses, ASC 718 (f.k.a. FAS123R), ASC 740 (f.k.a. FAS109), payroll taxes, employee stock option plans, qualified plans and assistance with compensation related matters for individual and corporate income tax returns.
Job Duties :
- Utilizes prior experience executing client deliverables related to the job summary subject matter in the form of calculations and memos to clients
- Applies industry standards, along with firm policies and BDO Tax Quality Manual requirements, as they relate to the taxation of equity compensation, deferred compensation / 409A, IRC section 162(m), 280G / Golden Parachute analyses, ASC 718 (f.k.a. FAS123R), ASC 740 (f.k.a. FAS109), payroll taxes, employee stock option plans, qualified plans and assistance with compensation related matters for individual and corporate income tax returns
- Researches and prepares compensation planning and / or benchmarking for executive compensation models
- Identifies situations when additional research is necessary and utilizes the appropriate source
- Communicates with clients, both verbally and formal business writing / tax opinions
- Exhibits client / executive presence and possesses strong communication skills

Supervisory Responsibilities :
Supervises workload of STS GES Managers and below on assigned engagements and reviews work product, as appropriateEnsures STS GES Managers and below are trained on all relevant tax software, including proprietary applications in Microsoft Excel and Access databasesDelivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for STS GES Managers and belowActs as mentor to STS GES Managers and below, as appropriateWorks directly with general tax and audit engagement teams to provide compensation & benefits assistance to firm clientsQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Education :
Bachelor's degree required; focus in Accounting, preferredMaster's degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferredExperience :
Eight (8) or more years of experience in compensation & benefits, requiredLicense / Certifications :
CPA certification or JD, preferredSoftware :
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Access, Excel and Word, preferredExposure to industry standard tax applications and research tools such as RIA, CCH, BNA and Lexis-Nexis, preferredLanguage : N / A
