We are currently seeking :
A Recreation Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will coordinate recreation facilities, activities and programs and monitor recreation activities and participants for compliance with City policies and program goals. Will also lead any special programs or activities.
Your responsibilities will include :
- With assistance from Recreation Supervisors and Managers, coordinates and supervises recreation activities and programs; monitors activities for compliance with all laws, policies, regulations and goals; duties will vary according to job assignment.
- Supervises and trains part-time and volunteer staff; monitors work activities for compliance to policies and procedures.
- Assists with administrative activities, including data entry, expenditures, revenue, and program reporting and marketing; maintains inventory of supplies and materials.
- Plans and coordinates special events and holiday activities, and coordinates setup and cleanup of special equipment and furniture.
- Coordinates and organizes recreation program activities and special events, including sports & exercise, recreation & educational activities, special events, and social activities.
- Supervises program guests and activities, and enforces rules, regulations and safety precautions in municipal facilities.
- Communicates with public, community resource agencies, and other organizations in order to coordinate and promote program activities.
- Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.
- Hours : Varied scheduled, evenings, nights and weekends required.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills :
Interpreting customer needs and solving customer service and public relations issues.Interpreting and explaining City policies and procedures.Monitoring operations and assuring recreation programs are operating properly and safely.Promoting and enforcing safe work practices.Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with employees, officials, other community services agencies and the public.Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.Effective communication, both verbal and written.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and Experience :
High School Diploma or GED is required. Preferred Associate's Degree in Recreation, Business or Public Administration; AND one year of experience in the recreation field.
Required Licenses or Certifications :
Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.First Aid and CPR certifications are required; some incumbents may be required to obtain specific technical certifications.Physical Demands / Work Environment :
Work is performed at City recreation facilities and venues with outdoor work in various weather conditions.Must be able to lift 75 pounds.Job postings may be withdrawn at any time at direction of the City Manager.
