Position Summary
The Production Planner II will create the Production schedule for one or various Value Stream area(s) to best satisfy current and forecasted demand, while meeting business objectives of safety, quality, on time delivery, competitive customer lead times, profitability, and inventory. The Production Planner will also support daily management activities to ensure commitments are achieved, communicate order status to customer service, and ensure project management teams are supported. The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.
- Ability to understand and utilize MRP and how master data drives material requirement planning.
- The candidate must be able to plan all operations starting with the receipt of purchase orders through shipping of product.
- Assist the purchasing department with outsourcing processes.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet and exceed inventory targets and turns; as well as seek opportunities to reduce inventory through various techniques such as lot size optimization, off-the-shelf vs. MTO analysis, Kanban, etc.
- Full understanding of re-order points and safety stock formulas; as well as the impact on different ways of calculating.
- Ability to create a production plan, understand level loading, capacity planning, sequential and concurrent scheduling to maximize production efficiency by minimizing change overs, down time, and over time.
- Lead production planning meetings and communicate when a gap exists between demand vs. capacity.
- Work with manufacturing to come up with creative scheduling techniques and adjusting of resources to improve overall efficiency.
- Understand Production Attainment and working with manufacturing to fully optimize scheduling to ensure capacity is maximized and production orders are closed out on-time.
- Ability to drive root cause for missed shipments and help to implement corrective actions to ensure Customer fill rate targets are achieved and sustained.
- Proactively identify potential shortages against scheduled production orders and work with appropriate team to resolve these shortages to ensure on-time completion.
- Evaluate slow moving items and work with appropriate groups to propose clean-up, re-work, obsolescence, changes to lot sizing, stock status etc.
- Move materials as necessary in performance of duties.
- Communicate effectively both internally and externally at all levels.
- Support various supply chain functions as demand requires (shipping, receiving, stockroom).
- Monitor 1+5-day OTD, track current work status. Pick list for what needs to be pulled and ship from stock
- Monitor aged operations, work and support operations to push work forward.
- Support customer demand, alert planning / customer service teams if an order will be missed, help supply new ship date based on current operations schedule and work with operations to get work moving.
- Support customer service / planning with completing customer open order reports on status for shipping.
- Work with operations and planning on determining priorities if another order is held up for an issue.
- Support MRB as needed based on volume of NCR's and OTD impact
- Work with supply chain and operations to drive the output of monthly revenue and end of month order priorities
Qualification Requirements
BS degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Supply Chain5+ years of experience within Planning and ProcurementMust have experience with any modern ERP Systems.Production scheduling to manage open orders and driving the production planning processProvides information to weekly SIOP meetingsMust be well versed in MRP / MPS systemsAPICS or CPM certification a plus or equivalent.Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
