JOB PURPOSE

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) 1 provides person-centered support and care to individuals with disabilities. DSPs assist individuals with activities of daily living, community integration, and personal development while ensuring a safe and supportive environment.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist individuals with daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding, while promoting independence and dignity.
• Provide companionship and engage individuals in meaningful conversations and recreational activities to enhance their social and emotional well-being.
• Assist with meal preparation and dietary needs, ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines and specific dietary restrictions.
• Monitor individuals' health conditions, report any concerns to the appropriate personnel, and document observations accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks, including laundry and tidying up personal spaces.
• Follow Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and behavior support strategies to ensure personalized and effective care.
• Administer medications as delegated and maintain accurate records in accordance with state regulations.
• Encourage individuals to participate in hobbies, exercises, and community activities to enhance their quality of life.
• Attend required training sessions and staff meetings to stay informed about best practices and company policies.
