GBS is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance tuning of client databases that support enterprise systems such as FPPS and NextFPPS. This position ensures data integrity, availability, and recoverability while meeting clients performance, security, and reporting requirements. The work will be performed remotely with occasional on-site visits.
Job Functions
- Develop new, and maintain existing, user interfaces; identify the major components and interfaces of the system.
- Database and data dictionary design and establishment.
- Monitor database performance, taking preventive and corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain database backup and recovery to ensure recovery objectives are met.
- Utilization of databases and other utilities to perform software maintenance, storage allocation management, and database backup and recovery activities.
- Evaluate and plan software upgrades, understanding and communicating the potential impact of the upgrade.
- Manage security controls and support security audit requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and manage database reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with system developers, database architects, and analysts to ensure data integrity and efficiency across environments.
Experience Requirements
Strong knowledge of database technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.Proficiency in database design, documentation, and coding.Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with database backup, recovery, security, and storage mechanisms.Excellent analytical and organizational skills.Ability to communicate effectively with IT teams and government stakeholders.Education / Certification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in database administration, maintenance, and performance tuning.Certifications like Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) or Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional (OCP) are beneficial.Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.Must be able to obtain a position of public trust with the US Government.A background check will be required.
