Job Description :

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer II to develop, test, and validate electrical instrumentation and control solutions for chemical process equipment and facilities. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to design, test, and troubleshoot electrical instrumentation and control systems for novel reactors and separation technologies for next-generation power solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand electrical system requirements and develop specifications to meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform detailed electrical calculations and designs for power distribution equipment, cable installations, conduit installations, cable tray installations, and grounding systems.
  • Develop wiring diagrams for sensors (pressure transducers, RTD sensors, flow meters, liquid level switches, etc.) and actuators (air compressors, solenoid valves, proportional valves, mass flow controllers, etc.).
  • Create instrumentation deliverables such as Instrument Indexes, Datasheets, Cable Schedules, Panel Layout & Wiring Drawings, Loop Drawings, Location Plans, etc.
  • Select, procure, configure, and test low and high voltage instrumentation devices and systems.
  • Specify functions of power distribution systems and interface with contractors for system / cabinet builds.
  • Design, assemble, and test electrical cabinets, junction boxes, and harnesses.
  • Conduct FAT and SAT for control cabinets.
  • Support commissioning and maintenance of facility electrical and control systems.
  • Design and test interface circuits between instruments and PLC IO modules.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate systems and ensure compliance.
  • Engage with suppliers and manufacturers to source components and troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain and operate facilities to resolve electrical performance issues, coordinating with vendors and adhering to internal policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience in electrical / electronic, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Experience selecting, configuring, and testing components such as motors, compressors, pumps, heaters, valves, controllers, and analyzers.
  • Proficiency in developing wiring diagrams using tools like SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic or Lucidchart.
  • Experience generating Instrument Indexes and PLC IO mappings.
  • Experience designing schematics interfacing instruments with PLCs.
  • Experience designing single line diagrams and electrical enclosures.
  • Experience in R&D lab and commercial production facility systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Ideal Candidate Will Have :

  • 5+ years designing electrical and instrumentation systems per NEC, IEC, ANSI standards.
  • 10+ years designing wiring diagrams for petrochemical or pharmaceutical processes.
  • 10+ years specifying and testing electrical equipment for industrial processes.
  • 5+ years designing and testing circuits for motors, compressors, pumps, heaters, valves, controllers, analyzers.
  • Experience with 3-phase AC-DC power supply configuration.
  • Experience selecting and testing industrial PLCs and IO modules.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting PLC-based systems.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems and field bus protocols (CANBUS, J1939, PROFINET, EtherCAT, ModBus).
  • Proven ability to work independently on complex projects.
  • Strong initiative and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to produce high-quality engineering documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to identify and communicate technical / project risks effectively.
