Municipal Deputy Clerk
A Municipal Deputy Clerk is responsible for assisting in the administration of municipal operations, managing official records, and providing support to elected officials and the public.
Primary Responsibilities
- Administrative Support : Assist the Village Clerk in managing official records and documents, including preparing and maintaining meeting minutes, agendas, and notices.
- Public Interaction : Provide information and assistance to the public regarding Village policies and procedures, and handle inquiries related to municipal services.
- Elections Assistance : Support election processes, including voter registration, ballot counting, and candidate filings, ensuring compliance with state and local laws.
- Record Keeping : Oversee the recording and management of official documents, ensuring accurate and timely filing of municipal records.
- Meeting Coordination : Facilitate Village board meetings, including scheduling, preparing materials, and recording minutes.
- Financial Duties : Manage accounts receivable for various licenses and permits, process payments, and maintain financial records.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education : A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required; additional education in public administration or a related field may be beneficial.Experience : Previous experience in an office environment, particularly in a governmental or administrative role, is preferred.Technical Skills : Proficiency with office software and equipment, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.Interpersonal Skills : Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for interacting with the public and managing multiple tasks.Work Environment
The work environment for a Municipal Deputy Clerk is an office setting, full time position, full benefits package, regular business hours 8am 4pm. Occasional evenings for board meetings (typically 2 per month).
