Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with at least 2 years of med / surg experience for a night shift float pool position requiring an active ND or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital acute care setting within the Med / Surg Float Pool
  • Patient population includes surgical (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical cases such as CHF, CVA, respiratory, and diabetic conditions
  • Unit has 61 combined beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 5 on days and 1 : 6 on nights
  • 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Floating is required within med / surg departments
  • Use of Epic charting system
  • CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment used
  • Telemonitoring present; monitor techs read strips with RN confirmation
  • Responsibilities include caring for a mix of medical and surgical patients in a float pool environment
  • Dress code allows any scrub color
  • Orientation includes both general travel onboarding and unit-specific float checklist
  • Support provided by nurse aides, with ratios up to 1 : 15
  • Every other holiday must be worked as assigned
  • Candidates may not have been employed directly by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
  • First-time travelers will be considered
  • Requirements

  • Active ND or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent med / surg experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Experience in acute hospital med / surg setting matching unit expectations
  • Ability to confirm telemonitoring strips
  • Must provide two professional references : one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
  • Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
