Healthcare Administrative
University of Iowa Health Care, Ambulatory Care Clinics Family Medicine is seeking a Clinic Manager at their Northgate Clinic to contribute to the oversight and delivery of health care services through leadership and management of clinical services and operations. Lead and manage functions to assure that health services, medical care, medical / health professions education, and research programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. Efforts are focused on organizing, managing, evaluating, and improving health care operations. Responsible for the administrative interface and coordination of clinical operations with Hospital Administration and the Carver College of Medicine Clinical Departments.
Position Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Develop budget priorities that are responsive to clinic needs and align with institutional strategies and priorities.
- Provide financial projections and operational recommendations to meet or exceed budget targets.
- Manage financial and productivity data; review and analyze and evaluate performance relative to targets.
- Actively monitor budgets and evaluate performance relative to targets. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Develop hospital budgets; assess needs for capital equipment and personnel resources. Submit proposals with appropriate justification. Meet budgetary targets
Patient Care / Service Delivery
Identify needs, trends, and forecasts to provide patient careIdentify trends and determine QA prioritiesRecommend QA and patient / customer satisfaction strategiesDevelop and monitor plans to enhance patient satisfactionWork in collaboration with hospital and department leaders, including medical and nursing directors, to implement best practices and new models of care / serviceIn collaboration with hospital and department leadership, ensure that clinical operations are reviewed regularly and in compliance with UI Health Care, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory agenciesOversee and ensure compliance of safety regulationsWork collaboratively with nursing, department, and hospital leadership on the review of health care delivery. Identify systematic problems with clinical operations and recommend solutionsReview patient satisfaction data and develop, implement, and evaluate plan(s) to improve performanceInvestigate patient experience concerns and provide follow-up as delegated to ensure patient satisfactionModel and promote the Service Excellence model for patient care and staff satisfactionPlanning and Goal Management
Develop action plans for clinical areas that meet strategic goalsProvide progress reports to hospital and department leadershipCollaborate with hospital and department leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement and improved efficienciesPrepare and / or assist with developing the clinic operating budgetsPrepare and / or assist with developing plans to ensure excellent patient services and satisfaction scoresHuman Resource Management
Responsible for the recruitment and training of personnel to maintain an appropriate skill mix and number of staffHire, develop, and manage the performance of employeesIn collaboration with hospital HR representative(s), ensure a consistent approach to HR managementProvide feedback to the service unit leadership, detect performance problems and provide recommendations regarding corrective action as necessaryHold staff members accountable for high performance and high engagement by articulating expectations, monitoring performance, and providing feedback consistently across areas of responsibilityPrepare and / or assist with developing resource allocations and staffing modelsIn collaboration with human resources, finance, hospital administration, and department leadership, use analytical tools related to workforce utilization and productivity and other operational metrics relevant to workforce managementPrepare and / or assist with developing workforce models aligned with clinical demand and efficiencyWorking closely and collaboratively with Human Resources, complete performance evaluations, propose salary increases and career development plansSchedule and direct work activities of assigned clinic staffCommunication & Collaboration

Master's degree in Nursing, Hospital and Health Administration, or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience Requirements
At least three (3) years of comprehensive progressive healthcare leadership / administrative experience
Expertise in financial management, data analysis, practice management, and human resources
Experience with budget management (e.g., regular use of institutional financial reports to meet monthly and annual targets)
Demonstrated ability to lead change
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
Demonstrate job-related experience with fostering a welcoming and respectful work / academic environment and / or otherwise demonstrate their ability to foster a welcoming and respectful work / academic environment for people from all types of backgrounds and viewpoints
Desired Qualifications
Previous physician practice and clinic management experience
Previous experience in an academic medical center
Previous experience in the administration and management of clinical settings
Demonstrated results in improving patient satisfaction levels
Demonstrated results in improving clinical operations
Experience managing in a matrix reporting and unionized environment
Previous experience with oversight of multiple types of professional staff
Experience with program development
