Overview :
The Designer in this position is responsible for the design and development of the vineyard vines Girl’s & Baby businesses as well as the Women’s Bottoms business by interpreting concepts into finished brand appropriate product. Main responsibilities are flat sketches in illustrator, BOM creation & development, as well as the creation of presentation boards and presenting lines in concept meetings. The Designer will also execute seasonal line plans and follow product development calendar deadlines.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead the design and development of all girl’s & baby apparel and all women’s woven bottoms (including denim) according to the seasonal concept (color, styling, etc.) under the direction of the senior design director
Create initial tech call-out pages & all BOMs and manage upkeep in Centric PLM for development through production each season
Collaborate closely with merchandising & PD teams to align designs with business strategy & needs
Create flat sketches and renderings using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Create, update and present line plan boards in milestone meetings
Source and develop new fabrics as needed in collaboration with fabric R&D team
Carry out all aspects of daily follow-up, submit approvals & comments with external and internal partners
Attend all bi-weekly fittings and collaborate with technical designers to ensure product fit, construction, and quality meet brand standards.
Participate in group meetings, fabric shows and trend shopping
Work with cross-functional partners in Product Development, and Merchandising to prevent and resolve production problems for current and upcoming seasons
Qualifications :
Degree in Fashion Design
At least 5 years of Design experience, kids and / or denim experience preferred
Experience with Centric PLM or other PLM system
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Strong understanding of the apparel design process from concept to product
Self-Starter and creative thinker with ability to interpret seasonal concept
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
Excellent time management and organizational skills with an ability to work under tight timelines while managing multiple priorities
Must be willing to commute to Stamford, CT Headquarters
