Position Description

The North Carolina Black Alliance (NCBA) and Advance Carolina (ANC) are seeking a dedicated Community Organizer to build and expand a strong volunteer base, foster leadership, and drive impactful issue-based campaigns. This role will focus on grassroots organizing and election-related activities, emphasizing community engagement, mobilizing volunteers, and executing effective campaigns that align with organizational goals.

The Community Organizer will report to the Regional Coordinator and work closely with local stakeholders, canvassers, and organizational staff to ensure success in voter engagement and constituency development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Build Base of New Volunteer Leaders & Engage in Issues-Based Work (50%)

• Initiate and cultivate relationships within the community to expand the volunteer base.
• Lead issue-based campaigns and initiatives, collaborating with volunteers to address critical community concerns, ensuring volunteer involvement in planning and execution.
• Conduct one-on-one meetings with individuals to understand their interests, concerns, and motivations to support growth and enhance their involvement.
• Assist in drafting a local organizing agenda that aligns with community needs and organizational priorities.
• Facilitate county table meetings to encourage community collaboration, civic and issue area education.
• Create and implement educational opportunities to raise awareness of critical issues and promote engagement with the statewide agenda.
