Job Description : The Program Manager of Infection Prevention & Control and Epidemiology is responsible for implementing, overseeing, and evaluating a comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control Program for Olympic Medical Center in accordance with accepted practices, federal, state, and local regulations, and accrediting organizations. This role is designed to improve patient and staff safety by minimizing the risk of transmission of healthcare-associated infections associated with medical procedures, equipment and devices as well as analyzing and investigating other patterns in disease conditions relevant to the unique needs of OMC, and the community it serves. Applies sound epidemiologic principles, to proactively identify and mitigate adverse health outcomes by analyzing trends and risk factors, and implementing appropriate control strategies. Patient-focused functions include risk assessment and risk reduction strategies (infectious disease transmission, construction / renovation projects, water events and air events), hospital-acquired infection surveillance, staff education, organism surveillance (including emerging pathogens), notifiable diseases reporting for patients, and local public health and facility coordination.
Education : Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, medical technology program, or other healthcare related field required.
Post-graduate degree in a field such as Medical Technology (MT, ASCP) or Master's in Public Health (MPH) or a similar degree required.
Basic infection prevention surveillance coursework required (DNV NIAHO SR.3b).
Experience : 5 years' experience in infection control or a related field, required.
Experience with medical center accreditation and CMS surveys required; DNV accreditation and Certification in Infection Prevention (CIP) and ISO experience preferred.
3 years' management experience preferred.
Employee / occupational health, population health, education experience preferred.
Licensure / Credentials : Have CIC (Certification in Infection Prevention and Control), or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, required.
