Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor

Hiawatha Valley Education District's (HVED) Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor will primarily work with high-risk youth and their families within the school dynamic while providing a wide variety of services, such as, individual sessions, group sessions, chemical health education, family support and guidance, triage coordination, prevention education, and staff support.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's Degree
• 18-Semester credits (270 clock hours) of specific alcohol and drug counseling coursework
• 880-hour alcohol and drug counseling practicum
• Passing score on a written comprehensie exam OR passing score on a written and oral exam

OR

Responsibilities include (but not limited to) :

Chemical Dependency Counseling

Inservice and Professional Development

Equipment :

Uses standard office equipment such as computer / laptop, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements :

Travel to member districts and the HVED District Office as needed

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards :

Works in school building environments and office setting.

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 12 School Districts and three Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota : Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED also has a Setting IV Behavior Program, S tudents A chieving I ntegrated S ervices (SAIL) that provides programming for students in grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. Along with the SAIL programs, HVED provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a program named for S pecialized P rogramming, E ducation, C omprehensive T herapy and other R esources for their U nique M inds (SPECTRUM).
