Role Overview

We're seeking a KMS Operations Engineer to support and enhance a high-availability key management infrastructure within a large-scale enterprise environment. This individual will ensure reliability, scalability, and security of encryption key services, working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and security teams. The ideal candidate brings strong operational experience, hands-on work with Thales HSM and CipherTrust Manager, and a solid background in Linux administration and cryptographic key management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize performance and scalability of enterprise KMS infrastructure.
  • Deploy and manage Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and related key management services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to encryption, decryption, and key rotation.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices aligned with cryptographic standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and security teams to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
  • Contribute to automation and efficiency through Python scripting or other programming languages.
  • Utilize Remedy or ServiceNow for incident and problem management tracking.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, or security operations.
  • Strong Linux / Unix server administration background.
  • Hands-on experience with Thales HSM and / or CipherTrust Manager (Vormetric).
  • Deep understanding of cryptographic principles and key management best practices.
  • Familiarity with AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault, or Google Cloud KMS.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot production issues in secure infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with incident and problem management workflows.
  • Scripting skills (preferably Python).

    • Nice-to-Have / Preferred

  • Prior Banking or Financial Services experience.
  • Exposure to cloud-based key management and BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) implementations.
