Physical Therapy Assistant - Per Diem 8 Hour Day

Promotes and maintains health and wellness to the patient / client by providing physical therapy services in any Avanti Hospitals under the supervision of a physical therapist. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Essential Functions :

• Provides patient care at the highest level in variable hospital settings- Outpatient, Inpatient, Subacute in all Pipeline Health hospitals.
• Provides continuity of care by implementing treatment programs for patients with multiple and specialized diagnoses safely and effective, as planned / established by the Physical Therapist.
• Contributes to physical therapist's effectiveness by identifying patient care issues; providing information and commentary; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physical therapy directives.
• Uses excellent communication skills to educate patients and engage them in their own care.
• Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities; and in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses as ordered by a Physical Therapist.
• Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; promoting wellness and health maintenance as ordered by a Physical Therapist.
• Instructs patients and patients' families in home programs and provides education as needed.
• Conferences with Providers and other allied health professionals to make recommendations for occupational therapy treatment programs.
• Attends and participates in department and multi-disciplinary meetings on regularly scheduled days and checks meeting minutes if unable to attend.
• Prepares, maintains, and transmits accurate patient documentation including, EMR, charges, and productivity logs.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external.
• Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members.
• Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
• Basic unit / department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter.
• Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair.
• Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
• Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
• Completes and attends monthly training assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
