SUMMARY

Third of three levels of quality control inspector / auditor. The job typically requires high school level math and problem solving skills, course work in metrics and 4+ years of work experience, or equivalent. Following management guidelines, performs first article, in-process and final inspection for quality, appearance and performance of complicated equipment, instruments or products, of diversified parts and assemblies. Work may be highly diversified. The job may include auditing and qualifying vendors on location. The incumbent creates inspection procedures and may be required to devise unusual measuring or gauging setups. The ability to use and train others for on the use of a variety of precision measuring instruments including electronic devices. The ability to use statistical tools to chart variance is required. The position requires tool room inspections. The incumbent is required to program and set up jobs on the CMM’s and the OGP vision system. The level III is the main trainer for the CMM’s and the OGP. The incumbent may be required to perform / assist in the training of Level I and Level II inspectors for bench inspections, control plan and FAI report creation and calibration procedures.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide complete and accurate verification of conformance for manufactured or supplied product.

2. Document by initial or stamp, all verifications performed.

3. Verification of the completeness of supplier certifications.

4. Lead the quality efforts for specific customers as well as the general customer base.

5. Act as a mentor for Level I and Level II inspectors.

6. Foster a 5S and safe work environment.

7. Monitor and assist in balancing work load in the inspection area.

8. To work at duties other than those identified herein as directed by management.

9. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Interpretation of customer and national specifications.

2. Thorough knowledge of GD & T and the ability to train team members on GD&T.

3. The ability to function in English and Metric measurement systems.

4. The ability to work with employees and customers alike.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Must provide proof of an annual eye examination and a onetime Ishihara Test (Color Blindness Test) from an accredited eye care professional.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing office environment. Work may require local travel. Work may require weekend work. Sitting, standing, walking and light lifting are required.
