Position Summary :
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Fleet & Equipment Mechanic to maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair our companys heavy equipment, tri-axle dump trucks, and fleet vehicles used in landscaping, material hauling and snow removal operations. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical diagnostics, and takes pride in keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities :
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on :
Heavy landscape equipment (e.g., skid steers, loaders, excavators, zero-turn mowers)
Tri-axle dump trucks and CDL-rated vehiclesLight-duty trucks, trailers, and company vehiclesPerform routine maintenance (oil changes, brake service, tire repair, hydraulic fluid checks, etc.)Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety and emissions standardsMaintain detailed service records and report repair needs or vehicle downtimeAssist with emergency roadside repairs or field service when requiredTrack and manage parts inventory and order supplies as neededIdentify and recommend equipment replacement or upgradesEnsure shop tools and work areas are clean, organized, and safeSupport seasonal maintenance needs, including snow removal equipment setup and repairRequirements :
High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certification a plusMinimum 35 years experience in diesel / heavy equipment mechanicsStrong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systemsValid drivers license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain)Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematicsOwn basic mechanic tools (company provides specialty tools)Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in outdoor or shop conditionsStrong communication and time management skillsPreferred Qualifications :
ASE or DOT certificationsExperience in landscape, snow removal or construction industryWelding or fabrication skills a plusFamiliarity with maintenance software or fleet tracking systemsWorking Conditions :
Work performed indoors in a shop and outdoors in various weather conditionsOccasional evening or weekend hours during snow events or emergency breakdownsCompensation and Benefits :
