Position Summary

The inside machinist operate in 3 sections : Machining, Valves and Pumps. Responsibilities and functional knowledge varies based on the designated section.

All inside machinists are encouraged, but not required, to gain experience in any section other than their designated section.

Key Responsibilities & Functional Knowledge

This list is representative of the key areas of responsibility and functional knowledge required of a first class mechanic in the Inside Machine shop. A first class mechanic must demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the skills, functional knowledge and abilities required to perform tasks in these and related areas of responsibility.

Advanced knowledge means that the mechanic understands how to perform tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to complete them independently and teach others how to complete the tasks. This also means that the mechanic has the necessary level of knowledge of the equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to complete these tasks. A first class mechanic also is expected to strategize independently and problem-solve as appropriate.

Machinists Assigned to the Machining Section

• Operate Machinery - Must know how to operate the following machines safely, and be developing additional skills in the following key areas : \n

Lathes \n

Able to hold tighter tolerances

Operate the drill press

Trained on operating and providing maintenance to surface or gate grinders based on department need (preferred, but not required)

Able to accomplish rigging of equipment and materials

Operate band saw

\n

Manufacture parts

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Education Minimum : High School Diploma / GED

Minimum Relevant Experience : 2 to 4 yrs

Preferred Relevant Experience : 3 to 5 yrs.

Pay Information

This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.
