Tulsa County is offering a full-time position in the Parks department with a salary of $15.64 hourly in Tulsa, OK.

The job involves park facilities construction activities in Tulsa County parks by performing the following duties :

Essential Job Functions

  • Build and repair park facilities; construction to include such facilities as picnic tables, shelters, trails, walks, backstops, fencing, light bridges, etc.
  • Perform diversified construction duties.
  • Require the use of detached instructions and the making of minor decisions, involving some judgement in following prescribed routines.
  • Request materials.
  • Must have ability to plan and work on projects at different locations.
  • Use blueprints and drawings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and / or Experience

Graduation from a standard four year high school, one to three years trade school or Vo-Tech and three years of satisfactory, full time paid employment in general construction and maintenance work or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Oklahoma Commercial Class A Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Tools and Equipment - Skill in the use of hand tools, power equipment, excavating equipment, and material common to construction.

Construction - Knowledge of construction trades; of the principles, practices and tools utilized in the maintenance and construction trades; of the hazards and safety precautions of the work; of the general operations of the park to which assigned.

Other - Ability to plan and work on a variety of projects at different locations; to establish effective working relationships with other members of the crew and the public; to read and write and perform basic mathematical calculations; to work from blueprints and drawings; and to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time.
