Staff Attorney : Tenants Rights (New Orleans)
Published Aug 28, 2025
Our Tenants Right Unit represents residential tenants facing housing insecurity, helping to stabilize their housing and enforce their rights for preservation. In 2022, Orleans Parish passed a city ordinance providing tenants facing eviction the right to an attorney. The City partnered with SLLS to provide quality representation to these tenants. Our team defends tenants against evictions, subsidy terminations, illegal lockouts, and other housing issues that might lead to displacement. Strategies include direct representation, education and outreach, operation of Eviction Help Desks, social services assistance, connection to resources, and strategic impact advocacy. This unit partners with the Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center and Jane Place Neighborhood Sustainability Initiative. Our team comprises attorneys, legal assistants, paralegals, and social workers.
