Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Peckham Inc., a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation organization, is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our Engineering & Maintenance team. This role is critical for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of heavy machinery used in construction projects. Peckham Inc. supports individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment, aiming to provide meaningful training and job opportunities within various industries, including construction. Inspect, diagnose, and repair various types of heavy construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and loaders. Perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment as per the maintenance schedules and standards. Identify mechanical problems using computerized diagnostic equipment, test systems, and parts. Replace or repair broken or old parts and provide detailed service reports and documentation. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures during repair work. Communicate effectively with equipment manufacturers for troubleshooting and ordering replacement parts. Maintain inventory of parts and tools to ensure availability when needed. Proficient in using diagnostic tools and mechanical repair tools. Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
