Unit Overview

The Anesthesia Services team plays a vital role in supporting safe and effective perioperative care across the operating rooms and procedural areas at GW Hospital. Our team ensures anesthesia providers have the supplies, equipment, and support necessary to deliver high-quality care. The Anesthesia Supervisor will oversee anesthesia support staff and serve as a key liaison between anesthesia providers, surgeons, and perioperative leadership to maintain seamless case flow and patient safety.

Position Summary

The Anesthesia Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily operations of anesthesia services to ensure safe, timely, and efficient patient care. This role provides direct supervision to anesthesia technicians and support staff, manages staffing schedules, ensures equipment and supply readiness, and partners with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and perioperative leaders to maintain smooth case flow. The Anesthesia Supervisor serves as a key operational resource, ensuring high-quality service delivery, compliance with hospital standards, and ongoing staff development.

Main Responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule, and evaluate anesthesia support staff.
• Coordinate daily staffing coverage for operating rooms, procedural areas, and other clinical sites requiring anesthesia support.
• Oversee anesthesia equipment and supply inventory; ensure readiness, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff to optimize workflow and minimize case delays.
• Support orientation, training, and competency development for new and existing staff.
• Monitor compliance with hospital policies, infection control, and safety standards.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and assist with accreditation readiness.
• Provide hands-on support when needed to meet operational and patient care demands.
