American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position in an Ortho Neuro Surgical setting, requiring a compact or SD RN license and night shift availability.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS) PCU, covering mixed acuity including intermediate, telemetry, and med-surg patientsPatient populations include surgical (urology, abdominal, ortho trauma, joint replacements), neuro / spine (stroke, seizures, brain tumors, spinal surgeries), and general medical cases (CHF, COPD, renal failure, infectious disease)Unit has 64 beds across two floors with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4 and CNA support at 1 : 8Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris, and Omnicell12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, with potential to be scheduled up to 4 out of 6 weekendsFloating may occur to various adult inpatient units within the hospital as needed and within scope of practiceNo mandatory call requiredWork collaboratively in a pod structure with strong support from CNAs, two charge nurses, a flex nurse, and hospitalist / RT teamsTwo days of unit / department orientation and two precepted shifts are providedEducation and resources are provided for post-neuro intervention patients if prior experience is lackingScrub color is navy blueFree parking available onsiteRequests for time off must be submitted prior to offer; up to 1.5 weeks can be approved with contract extensionHoliday coverage dependent on RTO request timingFirst-time travelers are welcome with required prior experienceNo local or radius rule exceptions—candidates must reside over 100 miles from any Monument Health facility\n \n Requirements\n
Active SD or Compact RN license requiredMinimum 1 year intermediate / stepdown level RN experienceBLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredCompletion of a board-approved nursing education programExperience with Epic charting required for first-time travelersComfort with med-surg assignments and ability to manage mixed acuityClinical skills including cardiac strip interpretation, chest tube management, trach care (no fresh trachs), line management, wound care / dressing changes, medication administration, and titration of drips such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed, and othersMust live at least 100 miles away from any Monument Health facilityPermanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler\n Benefits\n
