FTS Houston is currently seeking a skilled Manual Lathe Operator with experience in machining valves, fittings, and precision components .

This role involves operating manual lathes to produce and repair parts used in piping systems, fluid control, and mechanical assemblies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in turning operations, thread cutting, and working with materials such as brass, stainless steel, carbon steel, or other alloys commonly used in valve and fitting production.

Key Responsibilities :

• Set up and operate manual engine lathes to machine parts to exact specifications, particularly valves, fittings, couplings, and connectors .
• Perform turning, facing, threading (NPT, BSP, etc.), boring, grooving, and other lathe operations on components.
• Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders.
• Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, thread gauges, calipers, and other precision tools to ensure adherence to tight tolerances.
• Machine both new parts and rework / repair existing components as needed.
• Work with a variety of metals, including stainless steel, brass, and specialty alloys commonly used in valve and fitting applications.
• Ensure all machined parts meet pressure, sealing, and dimensional requirements for high-performance fluid and gas systems.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and perform routine machine maintenance.
• Follow all safety protocols, including proper handling of metal chips, lubricants, and rotating equipment.
