American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift position requiring at least two years of CVICU experience and a MD or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the CVICU of a hospital settingNight shift schedule of 4x12 hour shifts (19 : 00 - 07 : 00)Patient ratio is 1 : 2 with a typical daily census of 1-8 patientsCare for post-cardiac surgery patients, including POD 1 hearts and fresh heart admissions (not directly from the OR)Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion / removal and management of pacer / temp pacer / transvenous pacerCare for ventilated patients and follow IV insulin protocolsUse of Cerner / Med Connect for charting and Pyxis for medication administrationFloating required to units of equivalent or lower acuityOn-call required : 4 call shifts per 6-week scheduleWeekend requirement is every third weekendTotal of 8 staffed CVICU bedsResponsible for admitting and managing fresh post-operative cardiac surgery patientsCollaborate using SBAR communication and document shift notesNavy blue scrubs requiredCompletion of online modules prior to start and potentially during orientation is requiredFirst-time travelers with relevant experience are welcome to applyCandidates living within 60 miles are considered local and may receive a different rateRequested time off (RTO) must be included up front with a preference for no more than 7 days off per contract; no RTO allowed during the first two weeksManager interview may not be required\n \n Requirements\n
Active MD or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years CVICU RN experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust be comfortable managing dysrhythmias and handling fresh heart admissionsAbility to assist with lumbar drains is preferredExperience with Cerner / Med Connect and the SBAR communication method is preferredTwo supervisor references from the past two years requiredIf previously employed at MedStar, must have been gone at least one year to return as a traveler\n Benefits\n
