job_description.job_card.job_descriptionWork in the CVICU of a hospital setting Night shift schedule of 4x12 hour shifts (19 : 00 - 07 : 00) Patient ratio is 1 : 2 with a typical daily census of 1-8 patients Care for post-cardiac surgery patients, including POD 1 hearts and fresh heart admissions (not directly from the OR) Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion / removal and management of pacer / temp pacer / transvenous pacer Care for ventilated patients and follow IV insulin protocols Use of Cerner / Med Connect for charting and Pyxis for medication administration Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity On-call required : 4 call shifts per 6-week schedule Weekend requirement is every third weekend Total of 8 staffed CVICU beds Responsible for admitting and managing fresh post-operative cardiac surgery patients Collaborate using SBAR communication and document shift notes Navy blue scrubs required Completion of online modules prior to start and potentially during orientation is required First-time travelers with relevant experience are welcome to apply Candidates living within 60 miles are considered local and may receive a different rate Requested time off (RTO) must be included up front with a preference for no more than 7 days off per contract; no RTO allowed during the first two weeks Manager interview may not be required Active MD or compact RN license required Minimum of 2 years CVICU RN experience Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Must be comfortable managing dysrhythmias and handling fresh heart admissions Ability to assist with lumbar drains is preferred Experience with Cerner / Med Connect and the SBAR communication method is preferred Two supervisor references from the past two years required If previously employed at MedStar, must have been gone at least one year to return as a traveler High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
