THE EULESS POLICE DEPARTMENT IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR LATERAL ENTRY POLICE OFFICER

To qualify for lateral entry, you must meet the following requirements :
- Lateral applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years of continuous service as a paid, full-time certified Peace officer from a municipality, Sheriff's office or Department of Public Safety.
- Any break in service beyond ninety (90) days will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience must be in patrol operations handling a full array of duties including, but not limited to enforcing laws, investigating crimes, and carrying a firearm.
- Experience required from an agency with a minimum population of 50,000 and a department size of a minimum of fifty (50) full-time sworn officers to qualify for the Officer STEP pay scale based on years of service.
- Officers from an agency with a population of less than 50,000 and less than fifty (50) full-time sworn officers may still be eligible for the lateral program on a case by case basis using criteria such as calls for service and experience.
- Officers who have any pending disciplinary actions or investigations for misconduct, criminal activity or pending lawsuits are not eligible for this program.
- Out of the State of Texas applicants must be eligible to take and pass the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) state exam before their hire date.
- Successful applicants will be eligible to take the Senior Officer exam after a period of one year from the date of hire.
- The Chief of Police or designee will make the final determination if an applicant meets the eligibility standards.
