Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A skilled professional is needed to provide specialized support for students with visual impairments by producing accessible educational materials. This position offers full-time or part-time hours, and work primarily onsite across multiple district locations in Everett, WA.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Transcribe educational content, including textbooks, workbooks, tests, and classroom assignments, into braille, large print, tactile graphics, or electronic formats to meet student needs.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of all transcribed materials and store electronic files for future use.
  • Collaborate with teachers of students with vision impairments (TSVI) to adapt learning materials appropriately.
  • Manage workflow efficiently to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Stay current with computer technology related to braille production and assistive devices.
  • Order and keep inventory of required supplies.
  • Maintain a resource file to locate alternative sources of braille, large print, or electronic content.
  • Use correct English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and writing skills in all transcriptions.

Qualifications :

  • Washington State teaching license and certification required.
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency in braille transcription.
  • Must have fingerprints on file with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) prior to starting.
  • Willingness to work in-person onsite at district campuses.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology for students who are visually impaired is preferred.
  • Location : Various sites throughout Everett, WA school district
