Overview
Oilseeds Technology Engineer, Program Aurora – North America. This is an exempt level position. The Oilseeds Technology Engineer applies engineering principles to new and existing facilities with tasks ranging from process design to evaluating / implementing new technologies. The role supports plant automation modernization and alignment with ADM standards, best practices, and design standardization across all Oilseeds plants. This position supports multiple Oilseeds locations in North America and requires up to 20% travel.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical requirements for process operability in automation solutions.
- Provide ADM standards and best practices for equipment specifications, process design and layout.
- Evaluate class of plant to meet project objectives and drive process designs to the lowest cost option (Minimum Technical Solution).
- Align project scope, review engineering / construction proposals, and approve project technical documentation for area of expertise.
- Participate in weekly meetings for critical information, decisions, risks, and issues.
- Identify, mitigate, and escalate project risks, issues, and decisions needed.
- Develop control narratives to meet project objectives.
- Act as gatekeeper / owner of appropriate technical documents, especially P&IDs.
- Provide technical requirements and project scope inputs.
- Lead, participate and provide input for cross-functional review and approval of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Review and approve project budget and schedule for area of expertise.
- Review, approve and participate in commissioning / start-up plans for area of expertise.
- Participate in all project team meetings, risk workshops and other project-related meetings.
- Participate in FAT software testing and technology training, both as student and mentor.
- Provide input and approvals for financial calculations and performance benchmarks.
- Act as process SME to ensure automation integrator understands how ADM wants the process to operate.
- Collaborate with COEs to ensure alignment of technology.
- Explore, propose and / or champion new process technologies and equipment suppliers.
- Work within the Global Technology Center to standardize operations, share methodologies, and implement new technologies.
- Assist plant operations in solving applicable technical problems.
Qualifications
Experience and knowledge of a variety of process unit operations (extraction, extrusion, evaporation, drying, grinding, centrifugation, etc.) in Oilseeds production / processing industry required.Commitment to safety and awareness of safety for others.Experience with optimization / analytical processes and automation.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with plant engineers and management.Working knowledge of process drawings and documentation, such as P&IDs and control narratives.Willingness to spend time in plant areas and travel up to 20%.Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently while traveling to remote plant locations.High motivation and results-oriented work style.Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Automation Control Systems, Food Processing, Production Manufacturing, or Industrial Technology.Minimum 3 years of experience in Oilseeds processing / continuous manufacturing with plant equipment and processes.Desired : Operations supervision and / or Process / Project Engineer experience.Additional Information
Relocation support is available for this position. ADM requires successful completion of a background check. The base pay range is disclosed below and may vary based on location and experience. The pay range is $72,900.00 - $136,200.00. Salaried employees are eligible for an annual bonus; total compensation includes a Salaried Incentive Plan.
