American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position in California, requiring a current CA RN license and strong teamwork skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Provide care in a hospital Emergency Department with an 18-bed unitTypical patient ratios are 1 : 4, with 1 : 2 for ICU-level patientsPatient population includes adults and fewer pediatrics, with exposure to correctional, homeless, and indigent patients; OB and cardiac cases are transferred outUse Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry monitoring equipmentVentilator management required; Omnicell used for medication dispensingNights, 12-hour shifts with self-scheduling, but schedule finalized by manager each 4-week periodWeekend requirement is 4 shifts per 4-week schedule (typically Fri / Sat for nights)Floating may occur between two nearby facilities (6.5 miles apart), with at least 2-hour notice before shiftFloor-specific orientation consists of two primary campus shifts and one shift at the secondary campusNo IV team; ED Techs and aides provide supportHandle a daily ED census averaging 100 patientsProvide care to diverse populations, including correctional and indigent patientsTeam environment with charge nurse, resource nurse, and ED techsNavy blue scrubs required, with matching undershirts or jackets in navy, white, or blackStaff required to work one major and one minor holiday per contractFirst to float policy applies to travelersHospitals have 24 / 7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support; only physicians practice in the ERReturning travelers cannot have been employed by CommonSpirit hospitals within the past year\n \n Requirements\n
