Who is Youth Villages?

Youth Villages is a nonprofit organization striving to help troubled youth and families live successfully. We are a team of 5,000 individuals who’ve come together across 29 states to change the landscape of child welfare and juvenile justice across the country.  Our work involves providing an array of counseling and treatment services to youth with severe emotional and behavioral problems.

Eighty-four percent of those who go through treatment are succeeding two years after leaving our program. These youth are living at home, remaining in school, and are not experiencing trouble with the law.

Program Overview

Youth Villages MYPAC uses the family-driven, strengths-based wraparound approach. The goal of the MYPAC program is to provide intensive support and assistance to families until a strong formal and informal support network can be developed and built around the child and family that will enable the child to be successful long-term in his or her own home.

Position Overview

Within the MYPAC program, our Mental Health Therapists are available to provide in-home therapy, family therapy, individual therapy, and specific therapies to address trauma and substance abuse, if needed. Primary Service Coordinators provide intensive care coordination and help the families to build support teams consisting of natural and formal supports. Youth Villages MYPAC also offers psychiatric evaluation and medication management services through board-certified psychiatrist and psychiatric nurse practitioner.

• 24 / 7 on-call (with rotating weekends and holidays)
• Crisis Response as indicated when a mental health or behavioral health crisis arises
• Develop and implement treatment plans weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly based on frequency of modalities
• Conduct initial in-home assessment (psychosocial), CANS, and clinical research assessment prior to first wraparound meeting
• Conduct In-Home Therapy
• Conduct Individual Therapy (will maintain weekly family contact if only doing individual therapy or as often as requested by PSC and / or family)
• Conduct Family / Marital Therapy as family driven
• Conduct ongoing assessments as indicated
• Caseloads of 8-9 with the expectation of 16 sessions per week
• Attend wraparound meetings as indicated based on frequency of therapeutic contacts if child / youth participate in Wraparound Facilitation
• Attend group supervision as indicated to update PSC on crises or intense, frequent interventions Actively train in an EBP or competent / certified in an EBP
• Complete DMH paperwork upon admission and annually
• Ability and means to drive frequently; provide proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used, and possession of a valid driver’s license is required
• Act as an advocate for the client when the client may face legal charges. Attend all school meetings, DCS meetings, and court hearings. Provide transportation to all events.
• Collect information about client using interview, case history, visual and auditory observation techniques, and appraisal and assessment methods. Requires ability to observe client home and environment and identify safety and health hazards.

Additional Information

Schedule is flexible and non-traditional; based around the availability of youth and families served. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, a personal vehicle to use for work purposes and auto insurance. Community Based staff will be reimbursed for applicable mileage

Salary

$52000 - $55000 / year based on education and clinical license

Qualifications

Requirements

A Master's degree in social services discipline with experience working with at-risk youth, adults, or families is required.Degrees that can be considered include : social work, drug and alcohol education or counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy. Other degrees will have to be evaluated further to determine if they meet the qualifications. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Basic computer knowledge Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
