Position Summary :
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of routine and specialized imaging procedures in accordance with established standards of care. The technologist prepares patients for procedures, operates and maintains imaging equipment, assists radiologists as needed, and ensures adherence to radiation safety protocols. This role requires a commitment to patient care, quality assurance, and excellent customer service .
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform diagnostic and specialized nuclear medicine procedures, including those utilizing CT assistance.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures and explain processes clearly to ensure comfort and cooperation.
- Operate, maintain, and ensure proper functioning of imaging equipment.
- Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure for patients, staff, and self.
- Assist radiologists during procedures and perform post-processing tasks such as film or CD development when required.
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality assurance activities.
- Adhere to hospital-wide policies and customer service standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Education : High School Diploma or GED required .Training : Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography or nuclear medicine program .Licensure : New York State Department of Health (DOH) Licensure required .Certification :ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification required .
BLS certification through the American Heart Association (required within 90 days of hire).
