Key Responsibilities
- Identify a point of contact at each Emergency Assistance shelter located in the city of Boston through whom to engage individuals residing in each said shelter.
- Connect with individuals residing in each local Emergency Assistance shelter to identify the employment objective of each individual and the ancillary training(s) required to achieve the employment objective.
- Facilitate the development of a relationship between individuals residing in each local Emergency Assistance shelter and the MassHire Boston ABCD Career Center.
- Establish, in conjunction with the MassHire Boston ABCD Career Center Assistant Manager and other management staff, a consistent schedule of outreach to each local Emergency Assistance shelter.
- Develop, maintain, and update a roster of Emergency Assistance shelter residents to whom outreach has been conducted; provided that said roster shall also include the identification of each resident’s employment objective and ancillary training(s) which are needed for the residents to achieve their employment objective.
- Enroll each local Emergency Assistance shelter resident, who wishes to, as a member of the MassHire Boston ABCD Career Center.
- Work in tandem with staff members of the MassHire Boston ABCD Career Center, and any other ABCD staff, to facilitate access to career center and other workforce development services.
- Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent and one to three years of experience in human services required.A Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or other related human services field is a plus.Familiarity with the greater Boston community.Willingness to travel and work extensively in diverse neighborhoods.Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work in a team required.Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.Bilingual skill in Spanish or Haitian Creole is preferred.Why Work Here
