GBS is seeking a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer Tester to support a federal client. The work will be performed remotely with occasional on-site visits. The Software Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer Tester ensures the reliability, functionality, and performance of IBC HRD applications such as FPPS, NextFPPS, Quicktime, and WebTA through structured testing, documentation, and verification. This role involves executing test plans, identifying and documenting software defects, and validating fixes across multiple development environments. QA Engineers / SMEs collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and project managers to integrate testing throughout the Agile, SAFe, or traditional software development life cycle, ensuring all deliverables meet DOI / IBC quality and security standards.
Job Functions
- Develops and executes software test plans to identify software problems and their causes.
- Executes test cases.
- Documents and evaluates test results.
- Detects, logs and reports program glitches and bugs.
- Tracks defects, and helps troubleshoot errors.
- Reviews test procedures.
- Ideal candidates will have knowledge and experience with Agile methodologies and how to integrate testing into the Agile workflow.
Experience Requirements
Knowledge and experience working with manual and automated testing tools.Experience with regression and load performance testing.Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and best practices.Proficiency in automation testing tools (e.g., Selenium, JIRA, TestComplete).Overseeing all aspects of government contract projects, from planning to execution.Managing project teams, ensuring alignment with project goals and contract deliverables.Monitoring budgets, schedules, and performance metrics to ensure efficient project execution.Communicating with government officials, contractors, and internal stakeholders on project progress.Ensuring full compliance with federal regulations, agency policies, and contract terms.Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of government compliance standards (ISO 9001, NIST, CMMI, DoD standards).Experience with software development life cycles (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Education / Certification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Quality Management, or a related field.3-7 years of experience in quality assurance or quality engineering.Certifications such as Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE), Six Sigma, or ISTQB are highly preferred.Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.Must be able to obtain a position of public trust with the US Government.A background check will be required.
