Director Of Fiscal Transparency (Accounting Manager 3)
We are seeking a Director of Fiscal Transparency to join our Office of Finance and Information Technology at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent Management Service position. This position is a hybrid role that allows for remote work when business needs permit. Travel and on-site presence at the central office or alternate locations are required for meetings, collaboration, and other operational activities.

OFIT contributes to an infrastructure that allows ODE staff to focus on the core mission of leadership, accountability, and school improvement.
The Director of Fiscal Transparency will play a pivotal role in leading and implementing strategies to enhance fiscal transparency within the organization and to external partners as well as the general public. As ODE's Director of Fiscal Transparency, you will : Oversee the development and implementation of initiatives Provide the legislature, school districts, and the general public with comprehensive access to financial data and insights from Oregon school districts and ESD Lead a team responsible for Overseeing data collection related to Average Daily Membership Weighted (ADMw) Interfacing with School District and Education Service Districts' Superintendents and budget managers Reviewing audited financials from School District Education Service Districts Collaborate closely with interagency offices on efforts such as Dashboarding for internal and external use Continued coordination with the Governor's and Directors' Offices Drive the organization's commitment to transparency and accountability
Minimum qualifications must be met to qualify for this position. Seven years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience; OR four years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is strongly preferred, demonstrating advanced professional expertise and commitment to high ethical standards. A Master's degree in Accountancy or a related field is preferred, reflecting strong academic preparation in advanced accounting principles and financial management. Demonstrated knowledge of governmental fund accounting, including application of GAAP and GASB standards in a complex public sector environment. Proven expertise in financial systems, data reconciliation, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance across all accounting activities. Proficiency in Power BI or comparable data analytics and visualization tools, with the ability to transform complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for decision-making.
