The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for ensuring that all areas of the facility including resident accommodations and public spaces are maintained in a clean, safe, and odor-free condition. This position provides direct supervision and leadership to the Housekeeping, Laundry, and Floor Technician staff, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout the facility.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in resident rooms, bathrooms, and public areas.
- Clean and maintain the spa area, utility rooms (clean and soiled), storage rooms, and linen rooms.
- Oversee and schedule housekeeping, laundry, and floor technician staff to ensure full coverage across all shifts.
- Monitor staff performance to ensure assigned duties are completed to standard.
- Perform inspections to verify cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Report maintenance and repair needs promptly to the supervisor or maintenance department.
- Assist in staff evaluations, disciplinary actions, and identifying areas for improvement.
- Recommend procedural or equipment changes to improve efficiency and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform hands-on laundry duties, including collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the laundry room and equipment.
- Ensure adequate stock of housekeeping and laundry supplies; notify supervisor of low inventory levels.
- Change room divider curtains and draperies as needed.
- Ensure all public spaces, including dining rooms, dayrooms, break rooms, and restrooms, are clean and well maintained.
- Maintain high-quality floor surfaces by refinishing, vacuuming, and carpet extraction as required.
- Remove trash and waste materials from all areas in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or Director.
Qualifications
Education & Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Prior experience in housekeeping within a healthcare or long-term care environment strongly preferred.Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.Skills & Abilities :
Strong leadership and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety standards.Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with staff and residents.
