- Ritz Instrument Transformers, an industry leader in instrument transformers, cast-coil power transformers, and solid-insulated bus systems, has an opening in our Engineering Department for a Sr. Electrical Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager.
About the Role
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design and development of instrument transformers and related equipment, ensuring innovative, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. In addition to executing advanced engineering tasks, this role will provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, fostering professional growth and knowledge-sharing across the team. The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a key role in guiding design practices, reviewing technical work, and supporting continuous improvement within the engineering department.Responsibilities
Lead and perform engineering analysis of projects, including preliminary design, calculations, life cycle cost, and equipment selection.Conduct advanced design calculations for instrument transformers and related equipment, both manually and with design software.Develop and enhance engineering tools and methodologies to improve design efficiency and accuracy.Prepare and review engineering drawings, CAD models, and detailed design documentation for manufacturing.Establish and maintain engineering specifications, bills of material, and technical reports.Direct and review the work of junior engineers, drafters, and technicians, providing guidance and feedback.Mentor engineers by providing training, coaching, and technical support to develop skills and ensure adherence to best practices.Review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, and design details.Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with company objectives.Collaborate with production teams to implement new product designs and resolve complex manufacturing issues.Represent the engineering department in cross-functional meetings, providing expertise and recommendations.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in design, testing, and production processes.Support the Engineering Manager in strategic planning and team development.Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Skills
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.5+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably with transformer or power systems focus.Proven ability to lead and mentor other engineers, fostering technical growth.Strong technical knowledge of electrical design principles, CAD systems, and design software.Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within budget and schedule constraints.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD tools, and electrical design programs.Seniority level
