RN - Perioperative and Post Anesthesia Nurse Manager
POSITION PURPOSE
The Preoperative / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse Manager position is responsible for coordinating and managing patient care specifically in the Pre-Admission / Ambulatory Surgery Care Unit (ASCU) / Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The position is responsible for providing administrative and clinical oversight and leadership throughout the hospital specific to these specialties. Managerial functions include policy and procedure development and review, budget development and compliance, effective personnel practices, staff development and competency assessment activities, provision of in-service, staff education and providing vision and direction for accomplishment of department and organizational goals consistent with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Senior Leadership Team and Director of Surgical Services.
MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience :
- Minimum two (2) years of current, clinically competent working experience in critical care.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.Current, valid New Mexico Nursing License or Compact Registered Nursing License.Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).DNV / Joint Commission inspection experience.Knowledge of Perioperative standards and compliance specifications (HIPAA, ASPAN, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), DNV, Joint Commission, etc.)Previous healthcare leadership experience.Experience in telecommunications and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn current Electronic Health Records.Demonstrates knowledge and skills of a specialty area.Annual hospital-wide competencies and education must be completed timely.Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications :
Superior interpersonal and team building skills.Knowledge of the mission, organization, programs and requirements of the healthcare delivery system of Holy Cross Medical Center.Knowledge of nursing scope of practice in New Mexico. Understanding of applicable laws of acute care operations such as the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) and knowledge of the American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) standards.Strong oral and written communication skills in dealing with a variety of individuals.Ability and utilization to recognize, anticipate and respond to the needs of customers and patients in a caring, respectful and courteous manner that leads to satisfactory resolution for the customer and patient.Analytical ability to evaluate complex patient scenarios; strong critical thinking skills.A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.PI382e5898b629-30511-38848258
