Job Summary :
The Pediatric LPN will provide direct patient care to children requiring tracheostomy, ventilator support, and G-J tube feeding in a home health, hospital, or clinical setting . The nurse will work closely with registered nurses (RNs), physicians, and respiratory therapists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities :
Monitor and manage tracheostomy and ventilator equipment , ensuring proper function and patient safety.Perform suctioning, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance techniques as needed.Administer medications and treatments per physician orders.Manage G-J tube feedings , including formula administration, flushing, and troubleshooting complications.Assess and document patient condition , including vital signs, respiratory status, and nutritional intake.Educate and support families on trach, ventilator, and G-J tube care, emergency procedures, and daily management.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.Respond to emergencies , including trach dislodgement, ventilator alarms, and G-J tube complications.Maintain infection control standards and ensure a safe environment for the patient.Qualifications :
Valid LPN license in the state of practice.Experience with pediatric trach, ventilator, and G-J tube care (preferred, but training may be provided).CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification .Strong assessment and critical thinking skills .Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team .Excellent communication and family education skills .Work Environment :
Home health care , pediatric hospitals, long-term care facilities, or outpatient clinics.Flexible scheduling , including day, night, and weekend shifts.Opportunities for specialized training in pediatric respiratory and nutritional care.
